Padel courts Ibiza in summer: playing smart in the heat

Playing padel on Ibiza in July and August is all about timing. Discover the best hours, the island’s coolest padel courts and tips for the heat. Book a lesson.

July and August are the months when Ibiza runs at full power, and when the sun makes no effort at all to hold back. At Ibiza Padel Academy we get the same question every day in these weeks, in one form or another: can you actually play padel here in summer? The answer is yes, and you can enjoy it. But you do need to approach it differently than in May or October.

The most important lesson from all our summers on the island is that it is not about playing less. It is about playing at different hours. Book a court at three in the afternoon in peak season and you will regret it within twenty minutes. Step on court at eight in the morning and you will play the best padel of the year. Same island, same court, a completely different feeling.

That is really why our Early Birds exist. From Monday to Friday we play from 08:00 to 10:00 at Club de Campo, for 20 euro per person. It is cool, the courts are quiet, and your sport is done before the island is properly awake. For anyone who wants a gentler morning, there is Not So Early Birds on Sunday from 10:00 to 12:00. In summer this is without doubt the best moment of the day to play.

The second good option sits at the other end of the day. Late afternoon and early evening on Ibiza are surprisingly pleasant, especially when a breeze comes in off the sea. The temperature drops, the light softens, and the courts fill up again with people arriving straight from the beach or from work. Check our page with clubs and padel courts to see which venue is closest to you and how late play runs, because that varies from club to club.

And then there is the coolest option on the island. Ibiza Padel Indoor at Club de Campo is the only club on Ibiza with genuine indoor courts, thirteen in total across indoor and outdoor. When the sun is at its highest and you still want to play, that is where it can be done. For visitors who are only here for a few days and do not want to wait for the evening, it is often the answer.

There is plenty to gain on the practical side too, and all of it is within your control. Bring more water than you think you need, and start drinking before you feel thirsty. Add electrolytes if you play longer than an hour, because sweat costs you more than water alone. Wear a cap, use sunscreen even on cloudy days, and pack a second shirt. That last one sounds like a detail, but anyone who has tried it never goes back.

Something changes on court in summer as well, and that may be the best part. In the heat you do not win points by hitting harder. You win them by playing smarter, with shorter rallies, more patience and better placement. So our coaches work on different things in July and August than they do in spring. More tactics, more positioning, less running without a plan. Many players find their game takes a step forward in exactly these months, precisely because they are forced to think.

Want to play on the island this summer? Request your lesson and tell us when you are free, and we will find the right moment and the right court to match. If you would rather simply join a group, you are welcome at our community. And if you could use a light shirt for that second set, have a look in our shop. See you on court, preferably before ten in the morning.
