Play padel on Ibiza without a fixed partner, at your own level, from 18 euros per person. Discover how the Early Birds work and simply join this week.
If there is one thing Ibiza Padel Academy is known for, it is the Early Birds. What started as a handful of players wanting to be on court before the heat set in has grown into the island’s fixed morning ritual, with a few hundred entries onto a court every single week. And from now on there is one more venue, because The Bubble Club in Sant Antoni joins in on Wednesdays.
The idea behind it is simple. You sign up as an individual, so you need no fixed partner and you do not have to ring around to fill a court. You turn up alone, you play for two hours, and you leave with a handful of new names in your phone. That is exactly why people keep coming back: it costs you one sign-up and nothing else.
The game itself is called King of the Court and it is cleverly built. Four players stand on each court and they play a set number of games in changing combinations, so that you end up having played with everyone on that court and against everyone. You keep your own games won, not a team score. At the end of the round you add up what you personally took.
Then comes the part that makes it addictive: the two players with the most games move up a court, to the higher level, and the two with the fewest move down a court. On the new court it starts again, with new opponents and new partners. Everybody shifts a little every round, and after a few rounds you find yourself on exactly the court where you belong.
That is why this genuinely suits every level. Several courts run at the same time, from the beginners’ court to the one where it gets seriously quick, and you do not have to judge in advance where you fit. The system works that out for you. Anyone turning up for the first time convinced they are too weak realises within half an hour that they are in the right place. And anyone finding it too easy simply moves up.
Where and when you can play comes down to three venues this summer. At Ibiza Padel Indoor on Club de Campo we play Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 10:00 for 20 euros per person, with 13 courts the largest venue on the island. At Punto d’Oro Siux in Es Canar we are on court on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00 for 18 euros per person. And new is The Bubble Club in Sant Antoni, every Wednesday from 08:00 to 10:00 for 20 euros per person. Thursday mornings at Club de Campo run under the name Best Players Play, for anyone who wants the pace a notch higher.
There is a reason Punto d’Oro has joined the list. Punt Groc in Santa Eulària, for years one of our regular homes, is temporarily inaccessible because there is a lock on the gate. Our Early Birds in Santa Eulària have therefore moved to Punto d’Oro in Es Canar, a few minutes down the road. As soon as Punt Groc reopens you will read it on our overview of the island’s clubs and padel courts.
If mornings are not your thing, we have something for that too. On Sundays we run the Not So Early Birds at Club de Campo, from 09:00 to 11:00, with exactly the same format but an hour later. There is now a Saturday edition at The Bubble Club on the calendar as well. In practice these are the most sociable sessions of the week, because nobody has to head off to work afterwards.
Signing up takes a minute. You tell us which morning you want to play and at which venue, and we sort out the court and the draw. Bringing your own racket is advisable, and if you do not have one, let us know in advance and we will provide it. You do not have to state a level. Have a look at our community page for the next sessions. Would you rather work on your technique on your own first? Then request a lesson with one of our coaches, and we will see you on the morning court afterwards.
